Palestinian flag hung on government building in Slovenia
The Palestinian flag has been hung on the government building in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.
Following the Slovenian government's decision to recognize the State of Palestine, the Palestinian flag was positioned alongside the European Union (EU) and Slovenian flags.
The Slovenian government evaluated the motion to recognize the State of Palestine during a session held yesterday.
Prime Minister Robert Golob stated in a press conference following the session that they had decided to recognize Palestine as an independent and sovereign state within the 1967 borders, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
Golob also mentioned that they would submit the decision to the parliament and seek support from the members of parliament.
The Slovenian Parliament is expected to convene next week to discuss the motion for the recognition of the State of Palestine.
Meanwhile, Spain, Norway, and Ireland also made the decision to officially recognize Palestine on May 28.
