Palestinian lands put up for sale in synagogue: 'A piece of the Holy Land...'
Land belonging to Palestinians in the West Bank was put up for sale at a synagogue in Canada.
Land belonging to Palestinians in the West Bank was put up for sale at a real estate event held at a synagogue in Toronto, Canada.
According to a report by CBC News, the Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto Synagogue hosted an event where land in the West Bank was offered for sale under the slogan, "Your chance to own a piece of the Holy Land."
While a group gathered in front of the synagogue chanting "Israel is Jewish land," pro-Palestinian groups assembled across the street to protest the illegal distribution of Palestinian land to Israeli settlers.
Farah Mater, who participated in the demonstrations with the group 'Toronto for Palestine,' stated that the event aimed to displace Palestinians in the West Bank, saying, "As Muslims, Jews, and Christians, we do not want our places of worship to be used as a cover for illegal activities and violations of international law."
Gur Tsabar, a member of the group 'Jews Against Genocide,' also expressed that synagogues were being used as a front for the sale of 'stolen Palestinian land.' Tsabar said, "This is a misuse of synagogues, and we have gathered to protest this event, which does not reflect Judaism."
Some protesters were detained during the event.
The United Nations and Canada maintain that the settlement of Jewish residents in occupied Palestinian territories is a violation of international law.
The Canadian government, which 'strongly condemns' the forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank, has not issued a statement regarding the legality of real estate events held in the country.
