Palestinian President Abbas makes 'urgent' call
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called for an "urgent" meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) following Israel's attack today on the Nuseirat Refugee Camp in the central Gaza Strip, which resulted in the deaths of 210 civilians.

European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell stated in a statement that he "condemned the attack in the strongest possible terms." Reiterating his call for a ceasefire, Borrell said, "The bloodshed must end immediately." Borrell stated that the ceasefire plan presented by US President Joe Biden was "a way forward for a lasting ceasefire and an end to the deaths."
"A RESULT OF THE INACTION OF INTERNATIONAL BODIES"
In a statement issued by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the world's governments and the UN Security Council were held responsible for the attack due to their "inaction." The statement included the following: "These horrific and shocking crimes are a result of the inaction of governments and responsible international bodies, including the UNSC, in the face of the war crimes and violations Israel has committed over the past 8 months."
