Pashinyan: An unprecedented positive dialogue has been established between Armenia and Turkey

Pashinyan: An unprecedented positive dialogue has been established between Armenia and Turkey

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has arrived in New York, USA, to speak at the 80th United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

Speaking from the UN podium, Pashinyan made statements regarding Armenia's relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan. The Armenian Prime Minister stated, "I am happy to note that an unprecedented positive dialogue has been established between Turkey and Armenia."

Emphasizing that they are in constant dialogue with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pashinyan said, "I hold regular meetings with President Erdoğan, where the level of mutual trust continues to rise."

Describing the relations between Turkey and Armenia as "an achievement that I value extremely highly," Pashinyan expressed his confidence that diplomacy between the two countries would further improve. Pashinyan stated, "I am confident that this will yield positive results that will lead to the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey and the full opening of the state border between the two countries in the near future."

The Armenian Prime Minister also touched upon the peace agreement initialed between Azerbaijan and Armenia, reiterating his appreciation for the efforts of US President Donald Trump in this regard. In his statement, Pashinyan said, "Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and I nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize because we saw through our own example that Trump is truly committed to the idea of peace."

Pashinyan also addressed his country's other diplomatic relations from the podium, stating, "Our dialogue with Iran and Georgia is also becoming increasingly visible." The Armenian leader noted that, in addition to relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey, these ties are also extremely important for making the South Caucasus region a peaceful, stable, and developing environment. Pashinyan said, "In this context, I also value the 3+3 format, which is an important platform for us to establish dialogue with the countries in our region and to develop our traditional dialogue with Russia."
