Pashinyan's statement on resignation

Tensions remain high in Armenia following the anti-terror operation that Azerbaijan launched on September 19 to clear out Armenian armed groups in Karabakh, which was successfully concluded within 24 hours.

From the moment the operation began, the public held protests against Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and demanded his resignation. As reactions against Pashinyan continue, the Armenian Prime Minister made a statement regarding the calls for his resignation.

"THE RESULTS WOULD BE BAD"

Pashinyan stated that he is ready to resign if it would help overcome the difficulties the country is facing, but he believes that his resignation would lead to the exact opposite. While answering a question from an opposition member of parliament during a session, Pashinyan said, "Armenia has faced and is facing difficulties. If I knew that all difficulties would be overcome with my resignation and departure, I would do it without thinking for a second, because I do not cling to my seat like you do."

Pashinyan emphasized that his analyses show that the exact opposite would happen if he were to resign, explaining the reason for not resigning in this way. The Armenian Prime Minister also reminded the session that he had resigned twice since coming to power and was re-elected twice.
