Passenger bus overturns in Germany: 5 people lost their lives
A passenger bus belonging to the company FlixBus has overturned in Germany. 5 people lost their lives as a result of the accident.
According to a statement by the Saxony Police Department, a traffic accident involving a bus occurred on the A9 motorway between the Wiedmar and Schkeuditzer Kreuz junctions. It was reported that 5 people lost their lives as a result of a passenger bus overturning on the motorway in the German city of Leipzig.
Leipzig Police Spokesperson Olaf Hoppe stated in an interview with the Ntv television channel that efforts are ongoing to determine how the accident occurred.
Hoppe said, "Our focus until now has been on the rescue teams, because there are many injured and at least 5 dead. Therefore, medical care was the priority."
Stating that the bus had tipped onto its side, Hoppe said that the injured were transported to hospitals by helicopter.
It was stated that the bus involved in the accident belonged to the company FlixBus.
Both directions of the motorway have been closed to traffic.
