Passenger plane carrying 15 people goes missing in Colombia! A member of parliament is among those on board

A Beechcraft 1900 passenger plane, operating a domestic flight for the state-owned airline Satena in Colombia, lost communication while flying over the northeast of the country. Satena announced that aviation authorities and the military have launched an operation to locate the passenger plane, which was carrying 15 people, including 13 passengers and two crew members.

In a statement released by Satena, it was stated: "Flight NSE 8849, operating on the Cucuta-Ocana route, took off at approximately 11:42 a.m. and was scheduled to land around 12:05 p.m. The aircraft made its last contact with air traffic control today at 11:54 a.m."

Regional media reported that the area where the plane disappeared from radar is the Catatumbo region, a remote and mountainous area near the Venezuelan border.

It is feared that Diogenes Quintero, a member of the Colombian House of Representatives, and Carlos Salcedo, a candidate in the upcoming elections, were on board the plane, which lost contact with control towers shortly before landing in Ocana after taking off from the border city of Cucuta. Wilmer Carrillo, a member of the House of Representatives, stated: "We have received the news regarding the plane carrying my colleague Diogenes Quintero, Carlos Salcedo, and their teams with concern. We are awaiting an official statement from the competent authorities."
