Pedro Sanchez announces: Will Spain recognize the State of Palestine?

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated that his country is ready to recognize the State of Palestine, adding that the international community cannot help Palestine without first recognizing its existence.

Speaking during a session of questions from the opposition to the government in the Spanish Parliament, Sanchez reiterated that they would recognize Palestine before the summer, emphasizing the necessity of this move.

CEASEFIRE AND HUMANITARIAN AID STATEMENT

Noting that one of the "most heartbreaking humanitarian disasters of this century" is taking place in Gaza, Sanchez said, "We demand a permanent ceasefire from the parties, the condemnation of Hamas's terrorist attacks, the immediate release of hostages, and the delivery of humanitarian aid proportional to the human catastrophe."

Prime Minister Sanchez stated, "Israel's disproportionate response threatens to destabilize the world and the Middle East, and is destroying decades of human rights."

"WE ARE READY TO RECOGNIZE THE STATE OF PALESTINE"

Emphasizing that the international community cannot help Palestine without first recognizing its existence, Sanchez said, "Spain is ready to recognize the State of Palestine."

Sanchez will visit Poland, Norway, and Ireland on April 11 and 12, and Slovenia on April 16, to seek support for the recognition of the State of Palestine and the organization of an international peace conference based on a two-state solution.
