Pentagon does not support a ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine war
The Department of Defense (Pentagon) has announced that it does not support a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Pentagon Press Secretary General Pat Ryder answered questions from journalists at a press briefing.
Regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict, Ryder stated, "We do not support a ceasefire that would give Hamas time to regroup and put Israeli citizens and others at risk."
AID TO GAZA DISCUSSED
Stating, "I have heard that U.S. President Joe Biden supports humanitarian pauses to ensure humanitarian aid enters Gaza and to allow hostages and other citizens to leave," Ryder noted that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has also addressed the issue of delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians in Gaza during his meetings with his counterparts.
''HAMAS COULD USE IT TO THEIR ADVANTAGE''
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan had also commented on the humanitarian pauses in the Israel-Palestine conflict, saying, "Any pause in the fighting would be to the benefit of Hamas. That is a fact. There are many complex facts here. A humanitarian pause would be good for the release of those held hostage. However, you can be sure that Hamas would also use it to their own advantage."
