People take to the streets in Albania to demand government resignation

An anti-government protest was held in Albania's capital, Tirana, with the participation of demonstrators who arrived from various cities across the country following a call from the main opposition Democratic Party (PD).

Gathering in front of the Prime Ministry building, the protesters marched through the streets of the capital, continuing their demonstration by passing in front of the Parliament, the Ministry of Interior, the Tirana Municipality, and the headquarters of the ruling Socialist Party (PS).

Clashes broke out between security forces and demonstrators, who threw Molotov cocktails and smoke bombs at various institutions, primarily the Prime Ministry.

During the protest, which lasted for several hours, police dispersed the demonstrators using tear gas.

The demonstrators caused damage to railings, bus stops, trash bins, and buildings in front of the institutions.

10 POLICE OFFICERS INJURED IN PROTESTS

Some police officers were injured as a result of Molotov cocktails and foreign objects thrown by certain individuals during the protests.

In a statement issued by the General Directorate of Security, it was reported that "10 police officers were injured as a result of attacks by citizens using Molotov cocktails, pyrotechnic materials, and hard objects during the demonstration."

Some roads were closed to traffic during the demonstration, in which hundreds of police officers were deployed.
