A person attempting to set fire to a synagogue in France was killed by police.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced in a statement on social media that French police had "neutralized" an armed individual who was attempting to set fire to a synagogue in the city of Rouen, in the north of the country.
A witness who spoke to AFP stated that the man, who was carrying a knife and an iron bar, approached the police and was shot.
France has the largest Jewish population after the US and Israel.
It is also known as the country with the largest Muslim population in Europe.
