It has been announced that the person who lost his life as a result of a Siberian tiger attack at a wildlife park in England was William Chapman, estimated to be in his 20s. Chapman's family, who stated that he had entered the area where the tiger was kept by crossing a security fence, reported that the young man had been struggling with a serious mental illness for many years. While the investigation into the incident continues, the park's announcement that the tiger will not be put down and US President Donald Trump's sharing of the attack footage have also come to the fore.

It has been announced that the person who lost his life as a result of a Siberian tiger attack at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in England's South Yorkshire region was William Chapman. It was stated that Chapman entered the zoo by crossing a security fence in the incident that occurred on Saturday at the park near Doncaster.

According to eyewitness accounts, Chapman walked toward the approximately 200-kilogram male Siberian tiger named Altai. It was reported that the attack took place within a few minutes and that Chapman, estimated to be in his 20s, died at the scene.

In a statement released by his family, they reported that the young man had been struggling with a serious mental illness for many years and was taking strong medication. The family stated that the connection between the medication and the incident would be evaluated during the forensic medical process and called for respect to ensure the investigation is conducted properly.

In the statement, Chapman was remembered as someone who was “intelligent, warm-hearted, and friendly.” The family also requested that footage and disturbing content alleged to be related to the attack not be shared on the internet.

It has also emerged that William Chapman had previously taken part in television projects. According to IMDb records, Chapman appeared in the program “May Contain Nuts,” broadcast on ITV, and in the BBC’s “True Stories” series. It was stated that the young man received training at the Jackie Palmer Stage School in High Wycombe.

Following the incident, the park was evacuated and it was announced that it would remain closed on Wednesday. Doncaster Council’s director of local government, Dan Swaine, announced that the council, as the licensing authority, has launched a health and safety investigation and is cooperating with various organizations, including the police and health institutions.

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park management reported that expert support is being provided to employees. The park announced that the endangered tiger named Altai will not be subjected to euthanasia.

Following the attack, footage alleged to be of the incident circulated on social media. It was stated that this included fake videos believed to have been created with artificial intelligence. The police asked the public to refrain from sharing such footage.

US President Donald Trump also reshared a 41-second silent video on his Truth Social account that appeared to show the attack, adding the note: “Never mess with nature! President DJT.”

Experts in wildlife and zoo safety stated that a single incident may not indicate a systematic security flaw at the park, but that it is difficult to completely eliminate risks if a person is determined to bypass security measures. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
