Pezeshkian thanks Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif
In a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its mediation efforts, stating that the attacks by the US and Israel, along with the contradictory attitudes displayed during this process, have increased Iran's distrust of the US.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a phone conversation. The discussion covered recent regional developments and the attacks by the US and Israel against Iran. Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude for the support and solidarity shown by the Pakistani people in the face of the attacks on Iran, noting that they appreciate the mediation efforts of friendly and neighboring countries to end the war.
Pezeshkian expressed his regret that the US and Israel have used the territories of some Muslim countries for attacks against Iran, stating that it is natural for Iran's defensive response to be directed at the source of the attacks, but that Iran views Muslim countries as brothers and does not want even a single Muslim to be harmed.
Pezeshkian also noted that there is significant capacity among Muslim countries to counter common threats.
Warning against the spread of regional tension
Pointing out Israel's intention to spread the war to regional countries, Pezeshkian emphasized that Muslim countries must be careful not to allow their territories to be used for attacks against other Muslim countries. Thanking Pakistan for its mediation efforts, Pezeshkian recalled that Iran was subjected to military attacks twice during the nuclear negotiations process. Stating that these facilities were targeted despite assurances from US officials that economic and energy infrastructure would not be attacked, Pezeshkian said that contradictory rhetoric and actions have increased Iran's distrust of the US.
Condemnation and message of solidarity from Pakistan
Sharif reiterated his country's stance condemning the military attacks against Iran, stating that they strongly condemn the recent attacks on economic infrastructure in Ahvaz and Isfahan. Stating that the people and government of Pakistan are in full solidarity with Iran, Sharif thanked the Iranian authorities for the measures taken to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. Sharif stated that the US approach has created an environment of distrust between Iran and the US, and expressed that any dialogue must be conducted on the basis of mutual trust and respect.
The parties agreed to maintain contact after the conflicts end.
