Police end pro-Palestine demonstration after hearing Arabic music

Hundreds of people gathered in the square near the Wittenbergplatz subway station for a pro-Palestine demonstration organized under the slogan "Stop the aggression in the West Bank - Do not supply weapons to Israel."

During the demonstration, participants carried Palestinian flags and signs and banners reading "Hands off the West Bank," "Stop arming Israel," "Gaza is not for sale," "Freedom for Palestine," and "Palestinian children deserve to grow up."

During the demonstration, where slogans were chanted against Israel and the US, police demanded that the music be stopped when Arabic music was played, stating that it was prohibited.

Later, an announcement was made from a police vehicle stating that chanting any slogans in Arabic or making speeches had been prohibited in advance, and that the demonstration was being ended due to a violation of these rules; protesters were then asked to leave the square.

More than 50 protesters who participated in the action did not want to leave the square and held a sit-in.

Police intervened harshly against these protesters and detained a large number of people. Prior to the demonstration, the police had imposed a condition that only German and English slogans could be chanted and had not permitted a march.

It was noted that more than 300 people attended the demonstration, where extensive security measures were taken, and a total of 250 police officers were on duty.
