Pope Leo XIV expected to visit Turkey
Pope Leo XIV is expected to visit Turkey on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea.
The spiritual leader of Catholics and Head of State of the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV, is expected to visit Turkey.
When asked whether he would fulfill the commitment of his predecessor, Pope Francis, who was unable to realize his wish to visit Nicaea for the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, Pope Leo replied, "I am aware of this. We are preparing."
The First Council of Nicaea is considered a turning point by all Christian denominations.
Important religious issues were discussed and decided upon at the council held in 325.
