Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of Catholics and Head of Vatican City State, stated that he is following the developments between Palestine and Israel with concern and pain, and called for an end to the attacks and weapons.
The Pope addressed the developments between Palestine and Israel during his traditional Sunday prayer from the window of his study overlooking St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
Pope Francis used the following expressions:
"I am following with concern and pain what is happening in Israel, where violence has erupted even more violently, leading to hundreds of deaths and injuries. I express my closeness to the families of the victims. I am praying for all those who are suffering in these hours of terror and pain. Please stop the attacks and weapons. Understand that terrorism and war do not bring any solution, but only lead to the death of many people. Nothing is solved with war and violence. Every war is a defeat. Let us pray for peace in Israel and Palestine."
The Pope also called for prayers for Ukraine, which he stated suffers every day.
