Prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine
In a statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Defense, it was announced that 248 Russian soldiers were released as a result of negotiations with the Ukrainian side.
It was reported that 248 Russian soldiers, 224 Ukrainian soldiers, and 6 civilians were released as part of a prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia.
The statement noted that the soldiers are being provided with the necessary medical and psychological support, and that these individuals will be transported by plane to ministry hospitals.
The statement, which described the negotiations as "difficult," included the phrase, "The release of the Russian soldiers was made possible thanks to the humanitarian mediation of the United Arab Emirates."
224 UKRAINIAN SOLDIERS AND 6 CIVILIANS RELEASED
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on his Telegram channel that 224 Ukrainian soldiers and 6 civilians were released as a result of the prisoner exchange with Russia.
Stating that some of the released soldiers had participated in the fighting in Mariupol and the Azovstal Iron and Steel Works located in that city, Zelenskyy said, "We will do everything in our power to ensure that all our people held in Russian captivity return home."
