Protests against immigration raids grow in Los Angeles

In Los Angeles, California, protests triggered by the harsh interventions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) continue unabated. While hundreds of people have been arrested during the demonstrations, dozens have also been injured.

On the fourth day of the protests, the demonstrations, which began primarily under the leadership of minority groups of Mexican descent, emerged as a reaction against the deportation operations initiated by Donald Trump. However, this large-scale popular movement has been overshadowed by incidents of looting.

Although protesters claim they are targeting chain stores and not harming small businesses, footage refutes these claims. The shutters of luxury stores were broken, and the goods inside were emptied in seconds. This situation led the Trump administration to describe the protesters as "looters rioting for money."

The U.S. President's son, Donald Trump Jr., in a post on social media, referenced the 1992 Los Angeles riots and encouraged shop owners to arm themselves. This post by Trump Jr. was described as "irresponsible" by the Korean American Association.

Leftist groups, on the other hand, argue that the protests are directed against large corporations and that small businesses are being protected. However, it has been documented with footage that some restaurants belonging to small business owners were also looted.
