Qatar announces positive progress in indirect US-Iran talks in Doha

Qatar has announced that the indirect technical talks held between the US and Iran in the capital, Doha, have concluded. Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari stated that Qatari and Pakistani mediators held separate meetings with US and Iranian negotiators.

Al-Ansari noted that "positive progress was made on issues related to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, based on the results of the Lake Lucerne Summit."

The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson also reported that the parties agreed to continue the talks in the coming period. According to Al-Ansari's statement, it was decided that the next meeting would be scheduled as soon as possible following the funeral of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The Iranian side had also previously announced that the indirect technical talks in Doha had concluded. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi had announced that an agreement was reached on establishing an official communication channel for reporting and recording violations of the memorandum of understanding signed between the US and Iran.
