Racist and sexist British police officer does not go unpunished
A police officer has been dismissed from the force for sending racist and misogynistic messages to a woman he knew.
Police officer David Seager, who lives in the British capital London, sent racist, misogynistic messages containing threats of sexual assault to a woman he knew while he was off-duty in 2020.
According to a report in the Mirror newspaper, an investigation into "misconduct" was launched by the Directorate of Professional Standards in 2021.
During the hearing, it was determined that Seager had breached professional standards of behavior regarding authority, respect and courtesy, equality and diversity, and discreditable conduct.
It was decided that Seager's behavior constituted gross misconduct, and he was dismissed from his post.
Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, who is responsible for the case, stated regarding the Seager incident: "The messages sent by Police Constable Seager were extremely offensive and distressing. I cannot even imagine the level of distress and harm they caused the woman. It is sickening that these messages were sent by a police officer. Police Constable Seager has been rightly dismissed. The Commissioner has made it clear that we will remove anyone from the organization who falls below the high standards we are required to uphold."
