Reason given by passenger who opened emergency exit door on plane causes astonishment

On the morning of May 11, flight MU5828, which took off from Changsha, had landed at Kunming Changshui International Airport and was taxiing on the runway when a young passenger pulled the emergency exit lever. This action led to the deployment of the evacuation slide and caused a brief period of chaos in the cabin. The disembarkation of passengers was delayed by approximately half an hour.

According to eyewitness accounts, the young man told the police, "I wanted to get some fresh air, so I opened the door." This thoughtless behavior created significant unease among the other passengers on the plane.

POLICE'S SWIFT INTERVENTION AND POTENTIAL PENALTY

Following the incident, the young passenger was removed from the plane by police and taken in for questioning. Under Chinese law, the penalty for opening an emergency exit door on a plane without authorization can be quite severe. The fine for such a violation can range from 100 thousand to 200 thousand yuan (approximately 53 thousand to 106 thousand TL), depending on the circumstances of the incident.
