'Record' amount of cocaine seized in Libya
The largest single seizure of raw cocaine in the country's history has been made at the Port of Benghazi in eastern Libya.
In a written statement, Libya's Anti-Narcotics Agency provided information regarding a drug operation conducted by security forces at the Port of Benghazi.
The statement noted that security forces, acting on a tip-off from the Saudi Arabian Anti-Narcotics Agency, searched two banana containers arriving from Ecuador, where they discovered 128 kilograms of raw cocaine hidden in the floors of the containers.

FINANCIAL VALUE OF 244 MILLION LIBYAN DINARS
The statement reported that the seized amount would correspond to 640 kilograms after being diluted, marking the largest amount of cocaine ever seized in a single operation in the country's history.
The statement further noted that the financial value of the seized cocaine exceeds 224 million Libyan dinars (46 million 280 thousand dollars), and that 2 Customs Administration employees, who were determined to have colluded with the smugglers based on initial investigations, have been detained.
It was reported that an investigation has been launched to apprehend the remaining members of the smuggling ring.
