Record donations for Kamala Harris in the last 24 hours: Total amount is staggering
It has been reported that Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris raised 36 million dollars in donations in the day following her announcement of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
The Democratic Party's election campaign reported that 36 million dollars in donations were made to the party's fundraising site in the 24 hours following Kamala Harris's announcement of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice-presidential candidate.
Campaign officials interpreted the high volume of donations collected in a single day as a "reflection of the enthusiasm" Democratic voters feel regarding the selection of Walz as the vice-presidential candidate.
US media also drew a connection between the high amount of donations and the fact that Walz is a "popular governor expected to appeal to rural votes" in order to win the support of working-class voters.
In the first 24 hours of Harris's candidacy, 81 million dollars had been raised for her campaign, which was noted as a record considering the amount of donations a presidential candidate has collected in a single day.
In the statement made by the Democratic Party's election campaign, it was also noted that the total amount of donations made in July alone reached 310 million dollars.
