Resignation decision from US Acting Ambassador to Kyiv Julie Davis

A resignation earthquake has hit the US Department of State. According to a report in the UK-based Financial Times newspaper, US Acting Ambassador to Kyiv Julie Davis has decided to resign from her post and retire.

It has been alleged that the reason for the decision is disagreements with US President Donald Trump and a decrease in Washington's support for Ukraine against Russia.

US Department of State Spokesperson Tommy Pigott confirmed the resignation reports. However, noting that the reports regarding the reason for the resignation do not reflect the truth, Pigott stated, "The claim that Ambassador Davis resigned 'due to disagreements with Donald Trump' is false.

Ambassador Davis has been a staunch defender of the Trump administration's efforts to achieve a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.

She will continue to proudly implement President Trump's policies until she officially leaves Kyiv and retires from the US Department of State in June 2026," he said.

Her predecessor had also resigned

Experienced diplomat Julie Davis, who has over 30 years of experience, took over as Acting Ambassador to Kyiv in May 2025 after her predecessor, Bridget Brink, resigned due to objections to Trump's Ukraine policies.
