Resignation in Greece over Red Sea mission

According to reports in Greek media, 17 crew members of the frigate "YDRA," which was set to be deployed against the Houthis in the Red Sea, have resigned.

In a statement released by the "Spartakos Network," which protects the rights of soldiers in Greece, it was noted that the government has sided with Israel and that the soldiers resigned because they realized they were being sent on a suicide mission.

PROTEST AGAINST DANGEROUS MISSION

The statement included the following: "The Houthis, who are attacking ships supporting Israel in its genocidal war against the Palestinian people, are using armed unmanned aerial vehicles that no naval vessel can withstand."

In a statement released by the New Left group in parliament, it was stated that these resignations were a protest against the working and wage conditions of a dangerous mission.

The statement said, "We call on the government not to involve our country and our Navy personnel in a war zone, especially in an operation that is not under the auspices of international organizations or the European Union."
