Reuters: US preparing for military operation against Iran! It will last for weeks...
As tensions between the US and Iran continue to escalate, it has been claimed that Washington is keeping the option of a comprehensive military intervention against Tehran on the table that could last for weeks.
Diplomatic contacts between the US and Iran and US President Donald Trump's harsh statements toward the Tehran administration continue to maintain their place on the international agenda. The British news agency Reuters, citing US officials, claimed in its report that Washington is working on a wide-ranging military scenario against Iran.
MILITARY INTERVENTION THAT COULD LAST WEEKS
According to two senior US officials whose identities were not disclosed in the report, the US military is preparing for a possible operation against Iran that could last for weeks. The officials stated that this scenario might not be limited to nuclear facilities, and that Iran's state institutions and security infrastructure could also be targeted. It was stated that the plan in question is much more complex compared to previous military options that focused on nuclear facilities.
The officials also shared the assessment that such an attack could be met with retaliation by Iran and that this could further increase regional tensions.
CLEAR MESSAGE FROM THE WHITE HOUSE
Responding to questions on the subject, White House Spokesperson Anna Kelly emphasized that President Trump is focusing on different scenarios that prioritize national security, stating, "All options are on President Trump's table regarding Iran."
On the other hand, the US Department of Defense did not respond to Reuters' request for comment on the matter.
