In the Deir ez-Zor province of eastern Syria, Iran-backed groups on the west bank of the Euphrates River carried out a rocket attack on the Conoco Gas Field, where US forces are stationed.
According to information obtained from local sources, Iran-backed groups stationed on the west bank of the Euphrates River targeted the Conoco Gas Field, where the US base is located, with a rocket attack late at night in Deir ez-Zor. While smoke was seen rising from the area where the US base is located, it is not yet known whether there were any casualties.
The US has not yet made a statement regarding the attack.
On June 23, an attempt was also made to attack US forces stationed at the Al-Tanf base in Homs province with an armed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of unknown origin.
US military bases in the provinces of Homs, Al-Hasakah, and Deir ez-Zor have been frequently targeted by rockets and kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles of unknown origin since the beginning of the year.
The territory of Deir ez-Zor east of the Euphrates River is under the occupation of the US-backed terrorist organization PKK/YPG, while the city center and other rural areas are under the control of the Bashar al-Assad regime and Iran-backed groups.
