Russia bans diesel fuel exports until July 31 to increase domestic supply
The Moscow administration has expanded the diesel export ban to cover all market actors due to issues with fuel supply.
Russia has imposed a temporary ban on diesel fuel exports in order to increase the supply of fuel in the domestic market. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that the decision will remain in effect until July 31.
During a meeting held by Russian President Vladimir Putin with government members via video conference, the situation regarding fuel supply and the transportation sector in the country was discussed, alongside education and digital services. Making a presentation at the meeting, Novak drew attention to the problems experienced in gasoline and diesel supply.

Stating that the current situation at gas stations is causing concern among the public, Novak said, "A ban on diesel fuel exports has been introduced today. This will ensure an increase in supply in the domestic market."
Expressing that Russia will also begin fuel imports in July, Novak noted that the decision taken also covers fuel producers. Thus, the restriction, which was previously applied only to non-fuel producing companies, has been expanded to include all market actors.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, the export ban will not affect fuel shipments made under intergovernmental agreements.
The decision comes following intense drone attacks by Ukraine in recent days on Russian oil refineries and fuel storage facilities.
