Russia declares Reporters Without Borders an 'undesirable organization'

Russia has added another international non-governmental organization to its list of "undesirable organizations."

In a statement released by the Russian Ministry of Justice, it was announced that Reporters Without Borders, a France-based international non-governmental organization that advocates for press freedom, has been declared an "undesirable organization."

Russia had previously added the US government-funded media outlet Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the international environmental organization Greenpeace, and the UK-based Amnesty International to the list.

Russia regularly designates organizations it deems harmful to its national security as "undesirable organizations."

Russian citizens who work for or provide funding to organizations added to this list can face up to 5 years in prison.
