Russia requested it, UN Secretary-General Guterres strongly condemned Ukraine over the Donetsk attack
The Russian Foreign Ministry called on all responsible governments and international organizations to condemn the attack carried out by the Ukrainian army, which resulted in the deaths of 25 people in Donetsk. A few hours after the call, a strong condemnation came from UN Secretary-General Guterres.
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the attack on Ukraine's Donetsk region.
A written statement regarding the attack was issued by the UN Spokesperson's Office.
The statement recalled that the attack resulted in the deaths of 25 people and left 20 others injured.
It was stated that Guterres strongly condemns all attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure, and that this includes the attack on Donetsk.
The statement emphasized that attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure violate international humanitarian law, are unacceptable, and must be ended immediately.
In the attack carried out by the Ukrainian army on Donetsk, which Russia has annexed, 25 people died and at least 20 people were injured.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, in a statement claiming that Ukraine had once again carried out a "barbaric act of terrorism against Russia's civilian population with the support of the US and its satellites," reported that it had been determined that the attack was carried out with weapons provided by the West from the city of Avdiivka, which is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
RUSSIA HAD CALLED FOR CONDEMNATION
The Russian Foreign Ministry had called on all responsible governments and international organizations to condemn the attack carried out by the Ukrainian army, which caused the deaths of 25 people in Donetsk.
The following statement was made by the Ministry regarding Ukraine's attack on Donetsk:
In the statement, which claimed that Ukraine had once again carried out a "barbaric act of terrorism against Russia's civilian population with the support of the US and its satellites," it was noted that it had been determined that the attack was carried out with weapons provided by the West from the city of Avdiivka, which is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The statement used the following expression: "All of this once again confirms the West's direct involvement in the conflict and makes it an accomplice to the actions of the (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelenskyy regime, which displays inhuman hatred toward innocent people."
Emphasizing that Russia condemns the attack carried out by Ukraine against the civilian population, the statement indicated that the West's desire to inflict a "strategic defeat" on Russia through Ukraine is pushing Kyiv to take steps including grave violations of international humanitarian law and war crimes.
In the Ministry's statement, it was noted: "Russia calls on all responsible governments and relevant international structures to strongly condemn this brutal terrorist attack.
Their silence will mean tacit approval of the murders of civilians and will encourage Ukrainian Neo-Nazis to commit even bloodier atrocities. The terrorist attacks of the Kyiv regime clearly demonstrate its lack of political will for peace and the resolution of the conflict through diplomatic methods."
THE ATTACK WILL BE BROUGHT TO THE UNSC
On the other hand, Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyanskiy, announced in a post on his social media account that Ukraine's attack on Donetsk would be one of the main topics of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting they requested to be held on January 22, which Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will also attend.
In the attack carried out by the Ukrainian army on the city of Donetsk, which Russia has annexed, 25 people died and at least 20 people were injured.
