Russia responds to Trump's 'I am very angry at Putin' remark

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made statements to journalists in the capital Moscow regarding current issues.

Evaluating reports that US President Donald Trump is angry at Russian President Vladimir Putin due to some of his statements regarding Ukraine, Peskov said, "We are continuing efforts to rebuild bilateral relations with the American side. Our relations were severely damaged by the previous US administration. We are also working on some ideas for resolving the Ukraine issue. For now, there is no development on this matter, but the work is ongoing."

Peskov noted that no document regarding rare earth elements has been signed between Russia and the US.

Stating that some US companies have shown interest in this, but there has been no development on the matter, Peskov said, "This interest is mutual because there are mutually beneficial joint projects here. The interest of Russian and US companies in joint projects is the first stage of improving bilateral relations."

Peskov stated that no new phone call is planned between Putin and Trump, adding, "Putin is open to contacts with Trump. Such a meeting can be organized quickly when necessary."

Touching upon the Black Sea Initiative, which includes ensuring navigation safety in the Black Sea and preventing the use of commercial vessels for military purposes, Peskov expressed that there are some issues regarding this and that work is continuing.

"FOLLOWING A PATH OF VIOLATING DEMOCRATIC NORMS"

Regarding the conviction of politician Marine Le Pen, who announced she would run in the 2027 presidential election in France, in a case where she was tried for misusing European Union (EU) funds, Peskov stated the following:

"Many European countries are following a path of violating democratic norms. We do not want to interfere in France's internal affairs, and we have never done so. However, as a tradition, European countries do not shy away from stepping outside the boundaries of democracy in political processes."

Spokesperson Peskov also shared the information that Putin will meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who will visit Russia.
