Russia suspends gasoline exports: To last 6 months
The Russian government has approved a decision to suspend the country's gasoline exports for 6 months. The decision will be implemented starting March 1.
Russia will not export gasoline for a period of 6 months. According to the decision, which will come into effect on March 1, countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan, will be exempt from the export ban.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated in a press release that the decision was taken to meet the increasing domestic demand for gasoline during the summer months.
The Russian state news agency TASS reported that the ban on gasoline exports was implemented to prevent potential upward movements in gasoline prices within the country.
TURKEY WAS AMONG THE MOST IMPORTANT IMPORTERS
Turkey is among the countries that import the most oil and petroleum products from Russia. According to a Bloomberg report, Turkey broke a record in oil imports from Russia in 2023. According to the latest published data, Turkey was importing 444 thousand barrels of oil per day in December 2023. The Russian government's decision does not cover crude oil exports. However, the decision will halt Turkey's diesel imports from Russia for a period of 6 months.
