Russia to grant asylum to citizens of 'destructive neoliberal regimes': Which countries does the decision cover?

Moscow has listed 47 countries with 'destructive attitudes' that contradict Russian values, opening a path for citizens of these countries to apply for asylum in Russia if they wish.

President Vladimir Putin signed a decree last month allowing foreigners who share Russia's traditional values and oppose the 'neoliberal' ideas imposed by their own governments to apply for residency in Russia.

On Friday, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin published the list of countries and territories that 'implement policies that impose destructive neoliberal ideological attitudes contrary to traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.'

Turkey was not included in the published list of 'countries pursuing destructive neoliberal policies.'

Reporting on the decision, RTNews wrote, 'It is noteworthy that EU and NATO members Slovakia and Hungary, as well as NATO member Turkey, are not on the list.'

WHICH COUNTRIES ARE ON THE LIST?

According to the decree published by Putin in August, citizens of 'destructive neoliberal' countries will be able to apply for temporary residency in Russia without the need to meet standard immigration requirements such as Russian language proficiency and knowledge of Russian history.

The list published on the Russian government portal includes the following countries and territories:
