Russian authorities have added Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas to their wanted list and launched a police investigation, accusing her of damaging Soviet monuments.

In addition to Kallas, Estonian State Secretary Taimar Peterkop and Lithuanian Culture Minister Simonas Kairys have also been included on the wanted list. The three individuals are being sought on charges of destroying monuments erected to honor Soviet soldiers.

Kremlin spokesperson Peskov confirmed that public officials in the Baltic states have been placed on the wanted list.

Prime Minister Kallas had announced in 2022, following the start of the war in Ukraine, that all Soviet monuments in the country would be removed.

In a statement on her social media account, Kallas noted that this move by Russia was not surprising and that they would continue their support for Ukraine. She stated that the Kremlin might think it can silence her, but the exact opposite is true.

EU Council President Charles Michel also expressed his support for Kallas, emphasizing that the arrest warrant is a "badge of honor" for the Estonian Prime Minister.
