Russian leader Putin's Greenland calculation: He determined a possible sale price
While US President Trump's statements that he wants to buy Greenland no matter what have been harshly criticized by European leaders, Russian leader Putin has revealed his own calculation on the matter.
While Trump continues to keep the Greenland issue on the agenda by making a new statement almost every day, a striking calculation has come from the leader of Russia, which once sold Alaska to America.
Putin made the following calculation:
The Greenland issue, I mean, this does not concern us at all — what will happen to Greenland.
As you know, Russia sold Alaska, and the US bought it from us for 7.2 million US dollars.
If we take inflation into account over all these decades, this amount would be approximately 158 million dollars.
Greenland's surface area is a bit larger.
Therefore, if you compare this with the cost of the US purchasing Alaska, the price of Greenland would be roughly around 200 to 250 million dollars.
