Russia's attacks on Kyiv continue

Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, was the target of Russian air strikes that continued throughout the night. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on his Telegram account that the attacks affected various districts across the city and that 22 people have been injured so far, including 2 children.

FIRES AND INFRASTRUCTURE DAMAGE

Klitschko stated that fires broke out in some parts of Kyiv following the attacks. Emphasizing that the strikes also damaged the city's tram infrastructure, Klitschko reported that search and rescue operations are ongoing and the attacks are still continuing. It was noted that fires also started in some detached houses and high-rise buildings in Kyiv.

KYIV'S ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE DAMAGED

Klitschko stated that Kyiv's energy infrastructure has also been heavily damaged. Noting that the attacks resulted in disruptions to the city's heating and electricity supply, Klitschko said that more than 2,600 homes, 187 kindergartens, 138 schools, and 22 social institutions were left without heating.

ZELENSKYY'S REACTION TO RUSSIA

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made statements regarding the attacks in Kyiv. Zelenskyy said that the Russian army's attacks on his country are continuing and that it has launched approximately 500 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and 40 missiles. Zelenskyy stated, "The main target is Kyiv, energy and civilian infrastructure."

Zelenskyy argued that peace talks are ongoing but that Russia does not want to end the war during this process. Stating that Russia responded to negotiations by launching attacks, Zelenskyy asked, "So, where is Russia's answer to the proposals made by the US and the world to end the war?"
