Safety review conducted following plane crash in India

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India has launched a large-scale safety audit of the Air India fleet following the plane crash that occurred on June 12 in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat state, which resulted in the deaths of 271 people.

According to the statement, 24 out of a total of 33 aircraft, including the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner involved in the crash, have undergone detailed safety checks.

EMPHASIS ON "COMPLIANCE WITH SAFETY STANDARDS"

Sharing the results of the inspections with the public, the DGCA reported that the aircraft and maintenance systems belonging to Air India are operating in accordance with current national and international aviation safety standards. The statement noted that no critical violations were found.

CRITICAL MEETINGS HELD WITH EXECUTIVES

Following the crash, DGCA officials met with executives from Air India and its subsidiary, Air India Express. During these meetings, operational processes were reviewed in detail. The airlines were warned to pay closer attention to aircraft maintenance procedures, to increase inter-departmental coordination, and to strengthen spare parts supply chains.

271 PEOPLE HAD LOST THEIR LIVES

271 people lost their lives in the passenger plane that crashed while approaching Ahmedabad Airport on June 12. It was announced that only 1 person was rescued alive following the disaster.
