High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell announced in a statement following the meeting of EU foreign ministers that the 27 member states have reached a consensus on imposing individual sanctions on violent Jewish settlers.
LIST OF INDIVIDUALS RESPONSIBLE FOR ACTS OF VIOLENCE IS BEING CREATED
Stating that the issue was on the agenda of the previous foreign ministers' meeting but could not be decided upon due to a lack of unanimity, Borrell said that a list of individuals identified as responsible for acts of violence against Palestinians is being created.
ENTRY BAN TO EU TERRITORY TO BE IMPOSED
Borrell explained that the EU's existing individual sanctions regime will be applied to these individuals, which includes a ban on entry into EU territory, as well as the freezing or seizure of their assets within the EU.
When asked by journalists about the names on the list, Borrell said, "I don't have the names in mind."
Borrell noted that the list is ready and that implementation will begin from this point forward.
