Searches conducted in 2 cities in Poland regarding 'pro-Russian espionage activities'

A written statement regarding the activities in question was issued by Poland's Internal Security Agency (ABW).

The statement noted that action was taken in coordination with partners in the Czech Republic and several institutions in Europe, stating, "As a result, activities aimed at organizing pro-Russian initiatives and media campaigns in EU countries have been documented."

The statement noted that these activities were intended to weaken Poland's position on the international stage and to discredit Ukraine and EU bodies, emphasizing that the goal of this initiative was to "fulfill the Kremlin's foreign policy assumptions."

The statement indicated that a news website named "Voice of Europe" was launched for these purposes, where "pro-Russian" articles, statements, comments, and interviews were published.

Furthermore, the statement included the following: "A person placed among Polish and European parliamentarians carried out tasks, including propaganda and disinformation activities, commissioned and financed by collaborators of Russian intelligence. Their goal was to build Russian spheres of influence in Europe."

The statement, which noted that searches were conducted in Warsaw and Tychy following the detection of "espionage activities," did not provide further details on the matter.

CZECH REPUBLIC HAD ANNOUNCED IT EXPOSED A 'PROPAGANDA NETWORK'

The Czech Security Information Service (BIS) announced yesterday that it had exposed a "propaganda network" based in Prague and financed by Russia.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala stated that the Czech intelligence unit had determined that the Prague-based "Voice of Europe" news site, which is financed by Russia, was engaged in "serious activities directed against the security of the European Union (EU) and his country."

Prime Minister Fiala had stated that the news site produced content aimed at discouraging the EU from providing aid to the Ukrainian army against Russia.

Following these developments, Fiala announced that the Voice of Europe news site, as well as Russian politician and businessman Viktor Medvedchuk and politician and media producer Artyom Marchevsky, had been added to the sanctions list.
