Serbian President Vucic: Color revolution has failed

Serbian President Vucic and the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) held a rally in the capital, Belgrade, under the slogan "We won't give up Serbia."

Addressing supporters who traveled to the rally from various regions of Serbia as well as Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vucic announced that they would launch a new political movement.

Stating that he has held the positions of prime minister and president for 13 years and has done everything in his power to improve the country's standing, Vucic noted that his country has been subjected to immense pressure, particularly regarding the imposition of sanctions on Russia, but that they have resisted. Vucic said, "Look, it has been almost 3 and a half years since the war began. We have endured all of this and have not abandoned our policy. Despite the terrible pressure on us, we have not changed our policy."

ANNOUNCEMENT OF A NEW POLITICAL MOVEMENT

Stating that there is a need for a new spirit and energy in politics and that a new, inclusive political movement will be formed within this framework, Vucic said, "We have many wonderful people in the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), of which I am a member and which I love very much, in the parties of our coalition partners, and on the opposition side. They are everywhere. But there is a problem; we need new energy, a new strength. We need a plan that extends not just to 2027, but to 2035."

"COLOR REVOLUTION HAS FAILED"

In his speech, Vucic criticized the protests that have been ongoing for months following the tragedy on November 1, 2024, when a concrete canopy at the entrance of the train station in the city of Novi Sad collapsed, killing 15 people. Claiming that the protesters do not care about the victims of the tragedy, Vucic pointed out that the protesters began aggressive actions just 2 days after the tragedy. Vucic stated, "What kind of people are these? When has this happened to us? We have always been patient, and we are being patient today as well. Whenever they feel like it, they go out and block a place."

Saying that the protesters want neither a referendum nor elections, Vucic remarked, "They want to run the country but they don't want elections. They say anything can happen, but not elections. They don't want a referendum either. So what do you want? To burn down the parliament, chase people, and block everything in the country? You will no longer be able to use violence against people without fear and without facing punishment for your actions."

Vucic said, "This attack on Serbia did not start within Serbia; it came from the outside. Because some foreign powers do not want to see an independent Serbia. They do not want to see a country that makes its own decisions. But you cannot break the back of the Serbian people. The color revolution has failed. Nothing will come of it now."
