Seval Öz appointed to critical role at US Department of Transportation

Nominated by the US President in March, Seval Öz was presented to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. The White House had stated that Öz's experience in autonomous and driverless vehicles was a deciding factor for this position. As of today, Öz has begun her duties as a deputy assistant secretary at the Department of Transportation.

Seval Öz made a name for herself in the tech world by leading Google's self-driving car development program between 2011 and 2014. Holding 10 different patents in the field of autonomous driving technologies, Öz is a well-known figure in the US technology sector. She also served on the board of directors of MicroVision Inc. and was named one of the "30 Most Influential Turkish Women" by TurkOfAmerica magazine in 2016.

In her new role, Seval Öz is expected to work on key issues such as technological transformation, AI-supported transportation solutions, the regulation of autonomous systems, and the digitalization of transportation infrastructure.
