Sisi: Israel is evading its responsibility for a ceasefire
Egyptian President Sisi stated, "We have seen that Israel continues to evade its responsibility regarding the efforts made for a ceasefire."
Speaking at the 33rd Arab League Summit held in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, Sisi emphasized that they are meeting at a time when the region is going through historical conditions, caught in the grip of challenges and crises, and noted that one of these is the war Israel has launched against the Palestinian people.
Sisi stated, "These historical moments impose two processes on all parties: The first is a process of peace, stability, and hope. The second is the chaos and destruction driven by the ongoing military tension in the Gaza Strip."
Pointing out that the international community has remained helpless with all its power and institutions within the United Nations (UN) in preventing what is happening in the Gaza Strip, Sisi conveyed that Egypt has engaged in efforts with some other friendly and brotherly countries to save the region from falling into an abyss.
Blaming Israel for the failure of negotiations for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Sisi noted the following:
We have seen that Israel continues to evade its responsibility regarding the efforts made for a ceasefire. In fact, just as it has taken a step further in its unacceptable military operations in Rafah, it is trying to use the Palestinian side of the Rafah Border Crossing to tighten the blockade on the Gaza Strip.
Emphasizing that Egypt maintains its position of rejecting the liquidation of the Palestinian cause and the displacement of Palestinians, Sisi said, "I confirm that those who think that military and security solutions will protect interests and ensure security will not achieve results. Those who think that policies of dragging [the region] into an abyss will yield results are on the wrong path."
Pointing out that the trust of all peoples in the world in the global order is being tested, Sisi said that the effects of this on peace, security, and stability will also be significant.
Calling for an immediate end to the destructive war against Palestinians, Sisi stated, "All future generations, whether Palestinians or Israelis, deserve a region where there is justice, peace, and security."
