Following Spain, Ireland, and Norway, Slovenia has also officially recognized the State of Palestine. In the vote held in Slovenia's 90-seat parliament, the decree for the recognition of the State of Palestine was approved with 52 votes in favor.

The remaining members of parliament did not participate in the vote.

Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob stated in his remarks before the vote, "We began discussing the recognition of Palestine with our allies in February of this year.

Our assessment at that time was that it was not yet the right time. We Slovenians had been dreaming of this right for 1,000 years. We achieved it 33 years ago.

Unfortunately, the Palestinian nation has not yet achieved this right," he said.

More than 140 countries, representing more than two-thirds of the United Nations, recognize the State of Palestine.
