Small plane crashes into residential area in the US

The death toll has begun to become clear following the crash of a small Cessna 550 aircraft into a residential area in San Diego, California, in the US.

Authorities announced that, according to initial findings, 2 people lost their lives and 8 others were injured in the accident. It was reported that 1 of the 8 injured individuals was taken to the hospital, while the others were treated at the scene.

San Diego Deputy Fire Chief Dan Eddy stated that there is wreckage spread over a large area at the scene, saying, "There are aircraft parts everywhere. The impact of such a large object at this speed caused widespread damage." Eddy emphasized that they believe everyone on the plane died and that the deceased were not residents of the neighborhood.

It was noted that jet fuel spilled from the plane following the crash spread to surrounding streets, causing fires in areas far from the crash site.

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have sent expert teams to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident. According to initial findings, there was no communication breakdown on the plane, but it is being evaluated that foggy weather and nighttime conditions may have been factors. San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria stated, "Our emergency response teams did an extraordinary job. Our loss is great, but a larger catastrophe was averted." It was reported that the investigation could take several days to conclude.
