South African peacekeeper shoots comrade, then dies by suicide
A South African peacekeeper serving in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) shot and killed his comrade before taking his own life.
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) stated that one of the South African peacekeepers serving in the DRC shot another South African soldier before dying by suicide.
The statement noted that an investigation commission has been convened with the United Nations (UN) Organization Stabilization Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) regarding the incident in which 2 soldiers lost their lives.
Last month, 2 South African soldiers lost their lives in a mortar attack in the DRC.
