South Korea: North Korea fires a series of ballistic missiles

In a statement from the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, it was emphasized that North Korea fired 10 short-range ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan (East Sea), noting that surveillance has been increased and that the US and Japan have been informed of the developments.

The Japanese Ministry of Defense stated that the Japan Coast Guard had issued a maritime safety advisory indicating that North Korea had likely launched a ballistic missile, and noted that ships were informed about the missile's impact and that no reports of damage had been received.

South Korea and Japan had also reported on May 27 that North Korea launched a "satellite rocket" toward the Yellow Sea.

South Korea had announced on May 28 that North Korea sent more than 150 balloons containing "trash" across the border.

With the latest events, there is concern that tensions between the two countries are escalating.
