South Korea's new leader has been determined
South Korea's new president, Lee Jae-myung, has taken office with the goal of steering his country out of political turmoil and establishing balance on the international stage.
Lee Jae-myung has taken the presidential seat in South Korea, aiming to overcome the deep political and social divisions the country is facing.
Having faced serious accusations in the past and survived an attack, Lee took office following the failed martial law attempt by his predecessor, Yoon Suk Yeol.
Caught between the US, China, and North Korea, South Korea is preparing to chart a new diplomatic roadmap under Lee's leadership. As the US increases its economic and military pressure on Seoul, Lee plans to pursue a pragmatic diplomacy that prioritizes national interests. While aiming to maintain cooperation with Washington, Lee also wants to improve relations with China and North Korea.

Lee's balanced approach may conflict with US calls for closer security cooperation with Japan. However, Lee states that South Korea will follow a multi-faceted strategy to maintain regional stability.
