Spiegel claims 156 million dollar arms export: German government grants approval
It has been claimed that the coalition government in Germany, consisting of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), the Greens, and the Free Democratic Party, has authorized the export of guided missiles and torpedoes with a total value of 156 million euros for the Turkish navy.
According to a report on the Spiegel magazine website, the German government has approved large-scale arms exports to Turkey.
The report states that the Federal Security Council has given the green light for the supply of hundreds of millions of euros worth of German weapons to NATO partner Turkey.
The report notes that the authorized weapons include 100 guided missiles produced by the company MBDA for the Turkish navy and 28 SeaHake-type torpedoes from the company ThyssenKrupp. It further states that while the list sent by the Ministry of Economy to the Federal Parliament did not explicitly specify the financial scope of these weapons, the price of the missiles is approximately 100 million euros, and the price of the torpedoes is 156 million euros.
The report also mentions that various consortia involving German arms companies have been permitted to provide material packages for the modernization of U209-type Turkish submarines, with a budget of 79 million euros.
It was also noted that the German government has approved the delivery of engine parts worth 1.9 million euros for Turkish corvettes and frigates.
