Stabbing panic in England
It has been reported that at least 8 people were stabbed on Hart Street in the Southport area of England, and some of the injured have been taken to hospitals.
Merseyside Police stated in a press release that emergency teams were dispatched to the area following reports of a stabbing on Hart Street at around 12:00 local time.
The statement noted that a large number of people were injured in the incident, and that police had seized a knife and taken one suspect into custody.
Furthermore, the statement added that while there is no wider threat to the public, people are urged to avoid the area near Hart Street.
The North West Ambulance Service also released a statement confirming they had received reports of "multiple stabbings," adding, "We are assessing the situation and working with our emergency partners."
A subsequent statement indicated that medical personnel treated 8 people who had sustained knife wounds, and that the injured were transported to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Aintree University Hospital, and Southport and Formby Hospital.
