According to the presidential decree published in the Official Gazette, the state of emergency that began in 2015 has been extended from January 31, 2024, until December 31, 2024.

STATE OF EMERGENCY POWERS

The state of emergency grants the Ministry of Interior and security units extraordinary powers such as "banning meetings, imposing curfews, issuing search warrants without court permission, and censoring the press."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Following the bombing on November 24, 2015, targeting the Presidential Guard Regiment on Mohamed V Avenue in the capital, Tunis, a one-month state of emergency was declared in the country, which was subsequently decided to be extended many times.
